We are the Anti-Bootcamp
There are a million bootcamps out there. Exactly.
Why should you choose CrossFit instead?
CrossFit Survival employs the methodologies of constantly varied, functional movements at high intensity.
Constantly Varied means everyday is different. Unless we’re testing you for something specific, you will never do the same workout twice. This means no more aerobic routines where you get to be the “best stepper”…knowing the routine like the back of your hand. At that point, there is virtually ZERO neuro-endocrine or musculo-skeletal response. Did you or your instructor know that?
Our workouts are designed to be broad, general and inclusive. We pride ourselves on being ready for the unknown and unknowable, which more closely mirrors your life.
Functional Movements means multi-joint multi-muscular movements that more closely mimic those used in real life. We want you ready and able to handle anything.
But why High Intensity, and why is it important in your workout? Simply put, intensity is work capacity, or FORCE X DISTANCE/TIME. In layman’s terms, it is how quickly you can move a given load across a determined space. How many push-ups can you do in one minute (time) is measured by the speed and power in which you can move your body (force) from the ground to a fully locked out position (distance).
The fitter one is, the faster one could move the load (assuming equal weighted persons).
It’s not just about doing the work. Rather it is about doing the work against time. Intensity is the missing KEY to every metric you want–lower cholesterol, better neuro-endocrine response, lower blood pressure, more HGH (human growth hormone), increased lactate threshhold, increased strength, faster run times.
The more intensity your workouts entail, the better and more quickly your results. Anaerobic training involves intensity. However, don’t let that scare you. INTENSITY IS RELATIVE…to you.
Most bootcamps employ the LSD (Long Slow Distance) methodology of keeping you busy at low to moderate intensity work for an hour. Although there are some benefits to such “cardio” training, they pale in comparison to training that incorporates both aerobic and anaerobic work. Sure, you’ll still sweat, but anyone can make you do that. Strength is actually lost when the majority of your training is aerobic based. Did you know that?
Most bootcamps spend a lot of time making you run too, yet they never give you any training in running mechanics. Not only that, most bootcamps don’t challenge you to enter races, be part of a team and clock your one mile, two mile, 5K and 10K scores either. We do. What good is fitness if you never actually put it to the test?
Most bootcamps help you lose weight, and with obesity reaching epidemic proportions, that is a noble goal. We can help you do that too, and we’ve got the stats to prove it. Fully versed in PALEO NUTRITION, our suggestions have also helped people get off anti-depressants, cholesterol and high blood-pressure medications too. Weight loss is great, but it’s better to be healthy, strong, powerful, educated, running with good form, entering and winning medals in races, and part of a community of people with like minds who not only workout together, they play together too.
Our coaches are highly trained, each completing a lengthy internship process alongside their certification(s). They’re not just some folks who took an exercise class, liked it and thought it would be a fun way to make a living.
What we offer is real training in RUNNING, BASIC GYMNASTICS, strength training, NUTRITION and MOBILITY WORK (ways to help you heal your body and increase your flexibility). Does your bootcamp offer that?
Our classes are taught on six days a week: 5:30am, 9am and 6:30pm Mon-Fri and 8:30am on Saturdays. Join us on Sunday as well for off site Running at 8am. If you are de-conditioned, overweight, out of shape, older, or want to ease back into training, don’t worry! Every workout can be scaled to your level. Really! CrossFit and CrossFit Survival IS for you. For more information, contact Coach Franklin at teamsurvival@yahoo.com.
